What a disappointment for so many people who look forward to the monthly Williton Market, now unable to continue because of a doubling of the hire charges for the Parish Rooms (Free Press June 29).
Why are the Parish Rooms a money-making concern? I understand that the electricity and water have to be paid for, but not at the expense of volunteers.
Many older and disabled people are limited in where they can go and what they can do, and this one Friday morning gave them an opportunity to get out and socialise, and to make money for charities which we all benefit from.
I thought the parish council took on these offices not just for themselves but for the people of Williton.
