DULVERTON Heritage Centre volunteers are working on the creation of next year’s exhibition that will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lorna Doone by R D Blackmore.
Part of the exhibition will focus upon ‘Lorna Doone on Stage and Screen’, including the making of two BBC television series, one in 1963 and another in 1976, both filmed on Exmoor.
A spokesman for the Heritage Centre said: "Hopefully, among the people of Exmoor there are some who remember the filming of these productions.
“Perhaps, best of all, they were extras and actively involved in the drama; perhaps the cast or crew stayed in their accommodation; perhaps they supplied horses.
“We would love to hear from anyone who can recount their memories of these BBC visits and especially from anyone who has any photographs taken in 1963 or 1976.”
In 1930, a Lorna Doone pageant was staged in Selworthy and this is also of interest for the project: “As with the films, we are keen to hear from anyone who has family stories of involvement in the pageant or photographs. Perhaps someone even filmed it.”
The exhibition designers would also like to obtain Lorna Doone memorabilia such as souvenirs that could be loaned to the centre and form part of the exhibition.
