MINEHEAD Literary Festival is being postponed for a second time because of the uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

In April, the organisers decided to move the event to October but they are concerned that, without a vaccine, there is too much at stake.

The situation will be reviewed early next year.

“We feel that our plans could be weighed down by so many Covid-related considerations that it could put a bit of a damper on proceedings or – at worst – could be doomed to fail,” said a spokesman.

“In the light of our happy day in 2019 and our wish to bring a bigger and better Minehead Literary Festival in 2020, we have given a great deal of thought to rescheduling the festival.

“We were really looking forward to presenting our exciting programme of speakers but now we think that, under the circumstances, it might be wiser to review the situation early next year when we might have a clearer idea of how things are going to develop and can rethink our plans accordingly.”
