SIR — The Minehead Amnesty Group is to have another letter-writing session from 3pm to 4.30pm on Thursday April 24 at the Holy Cross Chapel at Watchet. Details of suitable cases will be available, with advice and support on hand from experienced Amnesty campaigners, and a cup of tea. This is a chance to help free a prisoner detained because of their political beliefs, to stop an execution, or help a bereaved family receive justice. Amnesty members know that their efforts do get results. A letter may bring comfort and hope, evidence that the outside world remembers you; it may be one of many that actually persuades the relevant authorities that they must act or be judged as an abuser of human rights. More information from Susan Mew on 01643 821209 or just turn up. You don't have to be an Amnesty member, just keen to defend human rights. Jill Walmsley, Amnesty International Minehead.
