SIR — During these miserable summer months of rain and bad weather, I've noticed parents and grandparents wandering around Minehead with sad faced children as there is nowhere to take them.

But here in the centre of the town, we have the old Minehead hospital. Well, what a perfect place. One of the large wards could be opened up for a big play area, with climbing frames, ball pits etc, possibly with a coffee shop, where tourists and locals could meet up, and children can play in a safe environment.

We have nowhere in Minehead like this. Come on Minehead, let's get lively. Minehead Eye is brilliant, but young children have to run and climb and enjoy themselves and it would be somewhere for children in local villages to come, and their parents will shop here.
