MINEHEAD paid the penalty for not batting out their 45 overs and lost this game on the last ball of the extra overs conceded to Brent Knoll by two wickets.
Minehead started quickly and after losing their first wicket for 30, newly promoted opener Dave Hurley (55) and Stuart Tudball (52) added almost 100 for the second wicket but after they were both dismissed by the 33rd over the remaining batsmen, apart from Adam Jones, who scored 22 no, offered little resistance and were all out for 179 in the 43rd over due to the bowling of Aussie Jimmy Waters (4-58) and Neil Morgan (3-45).
Brent Knoll replied steadily and their top five batsmen all scored double figures with 30 for Jimmy Waters and also skipper Paul Mitchell and David Lilff failed just two short of his fifty, during which time Dave Veale bowled his 15 overs with 2-48.
But with the middle order collapsing similar to that of Minehead, Brent Knoll were reduced to 171-8 after 45 overs, however, in the two extra overs Keith Morgan and Jack Phillips managed to score the nine runs required to win the game.
Minehead: 179 (D Hurley 55, S Tudball 52, G Murrell 27, A Jones 22 no, J Waters 4-58, N Morgan 3-45).
