Kerry Grigg, from Minehead, landed herself a new job just after lockdown and intends to help raise money for the important research needed to stamp out cancer.

Kerry, who was born, bred and educated in Minehead, was tasked with raising funds for the local charity shop and highlighting the need for clothes and bric-a-brac.

She came up with a brainwave of approaching the local Slimming World groups and asking members whose dress sizes have shrunk to donate their ‘big’ clothes.

Trevor and Louise Bale, who have been running groups for nearly four years in the local area, were only too pleased to help.

After mentioning the appeal to their members, they provided them with purple bags to fill – and they have collected 100 bags which are worth approximately £2,500.

Louise said: Lockdown wasn’t kind to many people with their weight but we have stuck together through thick and thin .

“Now members are regaining their confidence and their figures and are only too pleased to donate the clothes they’ve grown out of.”

Kerry said the generosity of the Minehead members had been ‘amazing’.
