SIR — I began to write this on September 15, Battle of Britain Day, when we remembered those gallant air crews, "The Few", whose sacrifice helped us to enjoy the freedom and peace of today. Theirs was a price paid 60 years ago.
Today we who survived, along with many friends and relatives, seek to serve those less fortunate than ourselves and their dependants through your generous giving through our annual Poppy Appeal.
We shall soon be approaching Remembrance tide. Do come and stand with us for two minutes in Fore Street, Williton, on Saturday November 11 at 11am, outside Risdons and the council offices. Help us to give reality to the spoken words, "We will remember them".
If you can offer help in poppy selling and are over 18, we old hands would be pleased to have your help.
