THE founder of the West Somerset Car Scheme Partnership, Jean Humber, was presented with the British Empire Medal on Friday (May 10).

Jean, from Withycombe, was awarded the BEM for services to the community and received it from Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Annie Maw at a special ceremony held at Taunton Museum’s Castle House.

Jean founded, developed and continues to support the West Somerset Car Scheme Partnership (WSCSP) – a support group for existing parish car schemes in West Somerset, Taunton Deane and Sedgemoor.
