“A TRULY amazing day” was veteran marathon runner Jackie Batten’s verdict on celebrating her 50th birthday with a 50 kilometre run which has raised over £1,000 for charity.

Jackie completed the 30-mile off-road route from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard, taking in North Hill and the Quantocks, last Saturday (March 4).

She completed it in six hours – half an hour faster than she planned – to benefit two charities that are “very special” to her.
