SIR — As a young girl, I was a Brownie. I loved my time making and creating, cooking and going away on Brownie holiday. The same with Guides, camp was always a highlight.
Now in my early 30s, I have the honour of being the District Commissioner for the Minehead District Guiding Association.
However, the District is heading for troubling times due to the lack of new volunteers to help run the units. It is unfortunate that one Brownie unit has already folded due to this and there is a real possibility that others will follow if new volunteers are not found.
Therefore this is a plea to anyone who is interested in helping out at our Rainbow, Brownie or Guide units to get in touch on 07861 043 655 or http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get_involved">http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get_involved.
Girl Guiding is a great asset in Minehead. It would be a great shame to lose it and deny our future daughters having the same opportunities we had as children.
Kim Lewington,
Minehead District Guiding Commissioner
