SIR — May I through your paper thank Simon Stokes and his family (Free Press, October 14). Organ donation is a gift that many people forget to give.
I have kidney failure, as have nearly 30 other people in West Somerset. With over 6000 waiting for a transplant and few donor kidneys available, so some of us will die before one is available. I also know a young lady hoping for a lung transplant in the area.
I know many people say “I must sign up but never get round to it”. It takes minutes to do. Speak to your family and please do it. You won’t know who receives your organs but what a legacy and gift to give life to someone when you die.
Like Simon Stokes, now five people have a new lease of life. Thank you, the Stokes family, from them.
Dudley Seale,
The Close,
Alcombe.
