A WILLITON man Lindsay Benham has won the prestigious STAR Inspirational Teacher award, considered by many teaching colleagues as the pinnacle of teaching achievement in FE, at Bridgwater and Taunton College.

He was presented with the award at a glittering ceremony for nominees, winners, and college staff.

Lindsay is a course leader and lecturer in engineering at the college and has held the post since 2015 when he joined from a Defence change project for military flying training in Bristol.

Prior to that role, Lindsay served in the Royal Air Force as an aircraft engineer and a commissioned training officer in the RAF’s training and personnel branch for 33 years.

The STAR awards recognise excellence in teamwork, teaching, leadership, and dedication to the teaching role. All nominees in the respective categories are deemed to have gone ‘above and beyond’ the scope of the normal day-to-day role.
