DETECTIVES are trying to discover how a 52-year-old man suffered serious injuries in Watchet last Saturday

The man, from Carhampton, left the Anchor Inn in Anchor Street at about 10pm to wait at the bus stop in nearby Harbour Road.

But ten minutes later he was back in the pub, having suffered head and leg injuries.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said the man had no recollection of what had happened to him.

He was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton but released after treatment.

Officers have launched an appeal for information and want to hear from anyone who saw the man drinking in the pub earlier in the evening or witnessed what happened to him.

They are particularly keen to speak to a group of people believed to have been in the area of the bus stop at around 10pm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bridgwater CID on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
