SOUPED-UP wheelbarrows lined up at Watchet's version of a Formula One Grand Prix on Sunday.
The annual three-wheeled challenge around the town's pubs attracted a total of 20 teams in fancy dress.
Costumes ranged from Osama Bin Laden to the Smurfs and there was more than a smattering of Pirates of the Caribbean lookalikes.
Competitors lined up behind the chequered flag until Watchet town crier Alec Danby got the race underway.
Cheering crowds lined the route and the first team back in a record time of 4.51 minutes were Taylor's Tornadoes, smashing last year's record of five minutes.
Second place went to Cartwright Express, who crossed the line in 4.58 minutes.
The fastest ladies' team with a time of 11.31 minutes were Hot Shots, with After Saturday Night racing into the runner-up position.
Meanwhile, the trophy for the best fancy dress went to Anything Goes, with Mrs Brown taking second place in the category.
The race was organised by Watchet LIVE and aims to raise money to help cover the cost of the town's carnival which takes place in July.
A spokesman said the organisation wanted to thank all the participants who had surpassed themselves this year with their barrow dressing and fancy dress costumes.
"They were imaginative and topical," he said.
"We'd also like to say a big thanks to all the volunteers who marshalled the route, the town's pubs and clubs who provided the race refreshments and to everyone who dug deep into their pockets to put their loose change into the carnival collecting buckets."
