POLICE have issued a computer-generated photograph of a man found dead on a beach in West Somerset as efforts to identify him continue.
He was discovered last December by a man walking on Lilstock Beach, not far from the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station construction site.
The man, whose death is not thought to be suspicious, is believed to have been in the sea for between one and five days before washing up on the beach.
His identity has remained a mystery despite a police appeal in March to the public for any information.
Now, an ‘E-fit’ image of how the man probably looked has been released by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
The image has been created by detectives leading the investigation launched following the discovery of the man on December 28.
Police said the earlier appeal for help in identifying the man had not yet resulted in progress with the investigation.
Det Insp George Pettingell said: “We hope that this image might be the key to helping us identify this man and, importantly, be able to update any family and friends.
“Forensic and DNA inquiries have established the man is likely of either Croatian or Bosnian heritage.
“He is also white, of large build, and estimated to be aged in his 40s or 50s.
“He had a shaved head and was wearing a black jacket, black jumper, red trousers, and black Nike trainers.
“We have been in contact with neighbouring forces but still so far have been unable to establish his identity.
“If you think you might know who this man is based off this information and the e-fit image, please contact us.
