POSSIBLE future uses for Watchet’s old council chamber, including a pop-up restaurant, children’s cinema and a multi-functioning exhibition space, were outlined to town councillors at their meeting on Monday (November 14).

Currently on the market for around £65,000 for the next three weeks, the grade II listed building has already attracted an offer from an anonymous private bidder, backed by the newly-formed Friends of the Watchet Chamber.

Founder of the organisation, Emma Boulton, who lives opposite the chamber, told councillors on Monday: “I put myself forward as a volunteer who would be prepared to bring the community together on this and seek funding to conserve and enhance the chamber building for the benefit of the town.”

She said many ideas had already been suggested.
