SIR — I take great exception to the comments in the anonymous letter in last week’s Free Press implying that my very hard work and that of my friends and many local shops, cafés, residents, old people’s homes and churches in is dishonest.

I am UKIP supporter, but more importantly, since I moved here seven years ago, I have been proud to campaign for footpaths/alleyways (and adopted one), buses, flooding, the closing of the walk in centre, leaving the EU and now hospital beds.

I have devoted much time, money and effort, all in an attempt to help my friends, neighbours and community.

My intentions are far from dishonest.

Having visited three neighbours in Minehead Community Hospital and realising what a fantastic job of nursing and rehabilitation was offered there, I was very happy to support the campaign.

Also, I would suggest the writer makes themselves more aware of the Leave concept, as there will still be movement of personnel around Europe and the rest of the world, only on a points system like Canada and Australia.

Also, Paul Nuttall’s change of views regarding the NHS from his personal view to his party view would make for interesting reading.

Our aim is to get more nurses recruited – let us not forget that it is the shortcoming of previous governments over the last few decades that caused this shortage in the first place, and I would have thought, as a nurse, you would have been very well aware of this fact.
