NEW rooms aimed at giving a more homely feel for patients receiving end of life care, and their families, were unveiled last week at Minehead Community Hospital.
The May Suite in Exmoor Ward, named in memory of Hilary May, a much loved member of the hospital and community, was dedicated at a special event.
The suite was opened by Mervyn May, Hilary’s husband, in the presence of people involved in creating it, including senior ward sister Hayley Welsh, hospital matron Nicola Maher, Hilary May’s family, Magna Housing, the League of Friends, Hilary’s former work colleagues and current hospital staff.
The new suite has a plaque dedicated to Hilary, and will provide two rooms, one for the patient and a quiet room that has been remodelled for families.
