WILLITON Hospital staff have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from the community during the coronavirus crisis – and they have one particular hero to thank.

Andy Winder (pictured), who lives in Williton, has been taking the hospital’s specimens, bloods and other urgent needs to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton outside the usual transport times.

Senior Sister Sharon Stone said: “Andy approached the hospital to offer his completely voluntarily service and because of this we have been able to receive results back sooner so we can offer the right care and treatment to our patients. He said he just wanted to help – he really is a local hero.”
