WILLITON’S community hospital is holding an open day for nurses in a bid to recruit much-needed staff.

Norma Coombes, matron at both Williton and Minehead hospitals, has a number of posts for full-time and part-time registered nurses at both which she has so far been unable to fill.

So she is taking the unusual step of throwing open the hospital doors to prospective employees.

“We are really keen to recruit nurses passionate about delivering high quality care,” she said. “At Minehead and Williton Community Hospitals, we provide the sort of nursing that our communities are proud of - and we really do invest in our nurses.

“To encourage nurses to consider us, I am inviting interested nurses into Williton Community Hospital to see the working environment for themselves, and visits to Minehead hospital can also be arranged.

“We have re-furbished wards providing a convivial, home-from-home atmosphere where a highly trained team of nurses, therapists and local GP’s are all dedicated to supporting patients during their hospital stay.”

The Williton open day is on Thursday (November 19) from 10am to 6pm. Nursing staff can also contact Norma on 01643 701763.
