DAREDEVIL supporters of St Margaret’s Hospice Care will be walking barefoot over glowing hot coals at a hotly anticipated fire-walk on Thursday, March 5.

And the charity is hoping more fearless fundraisers will take on its hottest ever challenge.

Sonia Bateman, events fundraiser at St Margaret’s, said it was “not for the faint-hearted” but participants would be in the safe hands of two-time Guinness World Record holder for the longest fire-walk, Scott Bell: “We’ve teamed up with leading experts UK Firewalk to run this exciting event,” she added.

“It’s the first time we’ve hosted a fire-walk and places are already filling up fast.”

The event, sponsored by Walpole Dunn chartered accountants, will take place at St Margaret’s Hospice Care in Taunton, from 6pm to 9pm. There will be a barbecue and music, and spectators are welcome.

Places are strictly limited to 100 walkers, so early booking is strongly recommended. The registration fee is £20, and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship to help St Margaret’s care for and support families across Somerset facing a life-limiting illness.

The fire-walk challenge is open to people over the age of 12. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The event comes as St Margaret’s Hospice Care kicks off a year of celebrations to mark the charity’s 40th anniversary.
