YEAR four pupil Holly Green’s mum Hayley turned up at Dunster First School on Monday morning – to cut her hair in front of 144 schoolchildren and staff.

Holly’s sacrifice was made to raise money for the Little Princess Trust, a charity dedicated to providing specialist real hair children’s wigs for children who lose their hair through cancer treatment.

The charity also raises money to provide financial assistance for research into the causes of childhood cancers and into minimising the effects of chemotherapy in children.

Nine-year-old Holly said: “My grandad lost his fight to cancer in January and I felt I had to do something in his memory to show him how special he was and how proud of him I was.

“I am doing this by donating my hair to a child who has lost their hair through chemotherapy. Hopefully, having a wig may ease their pain and suffering and make them smile again.”

Dunster First School headteacher Peter Hoyland said: “Everyone at the school is immensely proud of Holly.

“She has always been a kind-hearted girl and having her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust is typical of her thoughtfulness and desire to help others.”
