DUNSTER man Simon Parminter spoke this week of how he fearlessly disarmed one of two knife-wielding muggers aboard a packed train.
Simon, aged 33, of Conygar View, was on his way home from a day trip to Southampton when a routine train journey was thrown into chaos.
Two men boarded the train when it pulled into Bath Spa Railway Station and, as it left, threatened passengers at knifepoint.
Have-a-go-hero Simon calmly bided his time until one of the men approached - then he struck the thug in the face and wrestled him to the floor.
Seeing Simon's quick-thinking actions, fellow passengers pounced on the other knifeman, eventually pinning him down until help arrived.
The men were restrained for the 12 miles between Bath and Bristol Temple Meads station, where they were arrested by British Transport Police officers.
Simon said: "It was not really that much of a big deal - more of a skirmish, although I was not going to let them get away with it.
"They were coming up the train behind me just as we left Bath station so I waited for them to get close and I hit one of them.
"I got him on the floor and, as I did so, some people jumped on the other man and they were held until we reached Bristol where police were waiting for them and we were asked a few questions."
Simon was not injured in the incident and said he was not scared despite the fact that the men were carrying knives.
And he said he would "definitely" do the same if the situation ever arose again.
