SIR — The publication of my book on the Somerset Home Guard in 2004 resulted in some 30 further photographs coming to light.
Included was this one taken of members of 1st (Minehead) Battalion HG.
It was taken sometime after February 1942, as the officer featured, front row fourth from left, is Major C Cale, who replaced Major E Murray Hill.
To his left is local photographer Lt R Kingsley Tayler. Sadly, all the others are “unknowns”.
