PORLOCK Pantomime and Drama Society’s latest production is an adaptation on Jimmy Perry and David Croft’s much loved 80s’ comedy Hi De Hi.

Set in 1959 at Maplins’ Holiday Camp, all the favourite characters are included – Peggy the chalet maid, Gladys Pugh the chief Yellowcoat and Yvonne and Barry Stuart Hargreaves, the ballroom dancers.

Written by Paul Carpenter and Ian Gower, there is plenty of fun and intrigue in the show: what happened when Gladys escorted a drunk Jeffrey Fairbrother back to his chalet? Will Ted get sent to jail for not paying his alimony? Will Peggy ever become a Yellowcoat? Performances run from Wednesday to Saturday (May 30 – June 2). Tickets at £5 on opening night, £8 other nights, are available from

Porlock Hardware, Toucan Wholefoods and online at www.wegottickets.com/

Last week, with kind permission of the management, the cast descended on Minehead’s Butlin’s to soak up the holiday camp atmosphere.
