SIR — Even without his guns, MP Ian Liddell-Grainger has managed to shoot himself in the foot.

By publicising his row with the police over the renewal of his firearms licence, he is drawing attention to the fact that some of his correspondence (in this instance the reminder they sent him) gets overlooked or ignored.
