The police have been informed and are regularly monitoring the field, which is owned by Watchet Town Council and regularly used by the youth football teams for training sessions and matches.
Team coaches were concerned about children’s safety and brought the holes to the attention of Watchet Town Council - which is warning that endangering children’s safety and damaging council property could lead to prosecution.
Anyone with information about the holes is asked to contact either the police or the town clerk in confidence.
