A FLOWER arranging workshop will launch the Harvest Celebrations Weekend at St Michael the Archangel Church in Alcombe on Friday (September 22).
The arrangements produced in the workshops, starting at 10am, will form part of the exhibitions that will be open to the public during the weekend. Also on display will be the ‘All Seasons’ hand-painted banners on loan by kind permission of All Saints Church, Wootton Courtenay.
On Friday evening, a café-style concert of 60s music by The Backbeats will be staged at 7pm. Nibbles and soft drinks available, but people may bring their own wine.
On Saturday, September 23, an exhibition by the Living History Mobile Museum on ‘Remembering the 40s’ will be on display from 10am till 4pm.

Latest plans for a West Somerset tidal lagoon supported by MP Rachel GilmourAnd at 5.30pm the Rev Barry Priory will give a talk entitled ‘Appetite for Joy - Poems and Prose in Celebration of Nature and Creation’. This will be followed by cheese and wine.
On Sunday, September 24, there will be a Harvest Festival service at 10am with Fr Peter Martin. Everyone can join in with a bring-and-share lunch following the service and then be entertained by the children in the afternoon.
To end the weekend, a service of Harvest Praise will be held at 4pm.
Light refreshments, including lunches, will be available on Friday and Saturday. Tickets for the flower workshop, 60s concert and ‘Appetite for Joy’ are £5 each, available from the church office.
