Guide Dogs, which supports blind and partially sighted people, is seeking volunteers in West Somerset.

The charity is looking for collection box co-ordinators who put fundraising boxes in suitable locations and bank the income every three to six months.

It also needs fundraisers who attend and plan fundraising events and keep track of what they sell.

Guide Dogs also wants fundraising group co-ordinators, who will build relationships with local networks, organisations and social groups.

Those in this role would encourage groups to host events - or even to name their own puppy - as well as delegate tasks and responsibilities to other volunteers.

A volunteer in one Somerset fundraising group said: "The job really is extremely fulfilling. I have met so many new people and extended my personal skills - influencing, networking, negotiating - that in turn benefits how I work in my professional life."

Volunteers could also help raise a puppy or be a sighted guide for a blind or partially sighted person.
