Somerset Highway's travel team has warned of sub zero temperatures across Exmoor and the Quantocks tonight (Tuesday).

Travel Somerset says gritting teams will be working to grit the roads in anticipation of the night's freezing temperatures.

They said in an update on Twitter: "Another lovely Somerset day - but it's going to get nippy on Exmoor and the Quantocks tonight, just dipping below zero so our gritting team will be out on those locations only."

There is no Met Office weather warning for ice in place at this time for Somerset.

The Met Office forecast for Exmoor over the coming week predicts cloudy skies with rain and sunny spells.

The story is similar across the Quantocks, with temperatures expected to peak at 13 degrees Celsius.
