APPROVAL has been given to EDF’s request for the number of HGV vehicles operating to rise from 500 to 750 per day from January until its jetty is fully operational.
The Transport Review Group – representatives from Somerset County Council, West Somerset Council, Sedgemoor District Council and Highways England – met this week to discuss the request.
Approval is subject to completion of a legal agreement and an implementation plan to be agreed between EDF and the local authorities in the New Year.
The request was made to enable the Hinkley Point C project to progress, and the group’s decision secures the principle of a mitigation package in excess of £4 million put forward by EDF.
