WIVELISCOMBE Town Hall Trust has won a £12,000 grant which will help it move the Town Hall project forward.
The grant from the Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) covers 50 per cent of the costs to have drawings and surveys in place so the project can go through planning, as well as for bid writing and business planning work to secure over £300,000 funding for the hall’s total refurbishment.
The trust, formed in 2006 to preserve the building and bring the upper floor back into active use, aims to restore the hall and reinstate it as an arts venue for the people of Wiveliscombe and the surrounding 10 Parishes area.
Now the trust is waiting to hear from other funders over the remaining 50 per cent match funding it needs before it can draw down the AHF money, expected to be in late spring.
