THIS weekend (March 12-13) is all about grandparents at Tropiquaria zoo where they will be made especially welcome with or without their grandchildren.

The family attraction at Washford Cross has created a specific season ticket that names the grandparents and allows them in with any of their grandchildren.

“They must bring the voucher from this weeks News Trader newspaper to ensure free admission.

It is Tropiquaria’s sixth Grandparents Weekend – and the original idea came from West Somerset’s MP Ian Liddell-Grainger.

“Ian pointed out to us that there were a lot of grandparents living locally, many of whom had families who now live outside the area,” said Jane Bassett, one of the directors. “Often, the families only visit once or twice a year and the grandparents would look for places to visit with grandchildren."
