RENOWNED cake maker and decorator Graham Chubb, of Woolston, has once again conjured up an impressive creation to mark the Queen's 80th birthday. He took six to seven weeks to make and lavishly decorate a two-tier fruit cake in honour of Her Majesty and hand delivered it to London on Tuesday, The cake - weighing in at a whopping 60lbs - featured deep cream-coloured icing with mauve, pink and gold decorations and Queen Elizabeth roses. The theme was one of the Queen's greatest loves, horses. The cake also featured E II R shields and a copy of the monarch's signature. It was the 17th cake Mr Chubb had made to mark a royal occasion based on an ages-old recipe handed down by his grandfather. Photo: Steve Guscott.
