RESIDENTS and visitors alike have been tripping the light fantastic in Minehead thanks to an illuminating treetop initiative.
Large globe lights have been strung in a number of trees along The Avenue to bring a year-round glow to the town.
The initiative has been spearheaded by Minehead Chamber of Trade, with support from town and district councillors.
The £35,000 will see 26 trees illuminated from dusk until midnight, with the lights owned and maintained by the chamber of trade.

Repairs to A396 Cutcombe Hill moved to nighttime work to avoid Snowdrop Valley clashThe vast majority of funding for the project has come from West Somerset Council using money paid to the authority through a legal agreement with Morrison’s supermarket.
The chamber and the Regal Theatre have also contributed towards the costs, which include provision for maintaining, insuring and running the lights for the next three years.
The low energy LED lights will be powered at a cost of about £1 per day.
