Torre Cider Farm near Washford is launching a new perry which will raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Called Pear Ambulance, the new limited edition drink will be unveiled tomorrow (Saturday), and a donation from each bottle sold will go to the air ambulance.

It was brewed in a single batch, using carefully selected perry pears from Hereford, and then aged in Scottish whiskey barrels, giving it a unique taste.

It has been on trial since the end of April and the feedback so far has been very positive, with some visitors buying bottles to take home as presents for their friends.

“We have always admired the work of the air ambulance, and in naming our new perry we saw an excellent opportunity to support them,” said Torre Cider Farm owner and manager Gemma Combe.

Shop manager Debbie Sandland added: “Customers really like the idea, I think the name makes them smile, and we have had lots of compliments on the idea, the label design and the taste.”

Carrie Cardale, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance fundraising manager, said: “We are delighted that Torre Cider Farm have chosen Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance as the charity to benefit from this initiative.

“With no direct Government or National Lottery funding, we rely on the public to help us raise over £4 million a year. Our thanks go to Gemma and her customers for their support.”

Because stocks of Pear Ambulance are limited, tastings at the cider farm are only available this weekend.
