I live in Minehead. Our family and friends often visit us here and we regularly have a day out on the railway and use the Turntable cafe and the shop.

On Sunday (January 12), I walked to Minehead Station with my son, who was visiting. All facilities were shut and locked; even access to the platform.

We found no information as to when any facilities would reopen; there were no timetables on display or in receptacles provided.

I sometimes wonder, especially after all the recent WSR tribulations, whether the organisation is really interested in its customers Out of interest, I consulted WSR website - the only useful information was that the next 2020 service is on March 21 . . . and I had to consult the timetable for that.

Maybe, I thought, I expected too much of a struggling organisation. I looked at FAQ . . . nothing there to help.

I searched “Turntable Café” and found that it would closed from December 1 to 3 2017! Very useful, I’ll try to remember not to visit it at that time.

This lack of customer interface and information should surprise me but sadly it does not; after all, they seem to find it difficult even to display the operation times of their turntable . . . which requires a piece of chalk and someone who cares.
