A report in last week’s Free Press on an Amble Not Ramble event referred to “free car parking at Carhampton Recreation Centre”.

We would like to point out that as the centre’s committee has to fund the upkeep of all facilities offered to the community at the centre, we can only offer free parking to those paying for or attending activities at the centre such as badminton, table tennis, youth club or croquet etc, or to shoppers using the village store.

Drivers not using the facilities at the centre are asked to make a contribution, posting their donations through the main red door. Any funds raised as a result can then be used to help maintain the area.
