A POPULAR Quantock Hills cafe has closed its doors for the last time after five-and-a-half years.

The Foxy Bean was converted by Alex and his New Zealand partner Bec from a calving shed on Adscombe Farm, Over Stowey.

In 2017, the couple, together with an uncle and aunt bought the farm, a few miles from where Alex grew up in Kilve.

The cafe was run by Bec and her daughters and its location at the entrance to the Forestry Commission’s 1,550-acre Great Wood made it a popular stop for walkers and mountain bikers.

But now the couple have called it day and baked their last sausage rolls and have been selling off their equipment.

In a social media post they said: “It is time to take a step back, focus on family, and begin new adventures.

“After five-and-a-half years we have decided to close the doors on our little cafe.

“It has been a crazy ride.

“We have met some amazing people and want to thank everyone for their custom and support.”
