SIR — I, too, went to the Deer Forum meeting at Fyne Court, which was unusually well attended.
The numbers alone testified to the worry that many of us have about the disappearance of the red deer on our hills, and especially the depletion in the number of adult stags.
Many people spoke at this meeting, but I don't recall either Arminel Scott or Paul Tillsley (Your Letters January 11) being among them.
Also, I do not recall anyone stating that a return to hunting was the solution. In fact, hunting was not mentioned at all.

Reopening of pharmacies hailed by MP Rachel Gilmour as fresh start for patient careFor once the majority of people in that room cared more about the indiscriminate slaughter of the stags than their own vested interests.
The concensus was we have a problem; the solution was 'Let's wait and see'. Depressing, yes - but a start.
Sadly, there are no easy solutions. Currently, on the Quantocks there is a void. Who can or will step into it?
At the moment it is the stalkers and the poachers, the game sellers, the wild venison buyers and the trophy hunters.
Both Paul Tillsley and Arminal Scott are swift to condemn. They write glibly about other people doing something. I'd like to know what, exactly, they are prepared to do themselves. Suggestions, please?
