THE Lord Lieutenant for Somerset, Annie Maw, was in Dunster on Monday to present the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to Forum 21, which works towards a sustainable district through projects to tackle climate change.
The group has initiated many community projects, including the original Minehead Farmers’ Market and the Steam Coast Trail, the new cycle route between Watchet and Minehead.
Nomination for the award was focused on two current projects – the development of a Community Woodland at Woodcombe, Minehead, and local delivery of Surviving Winter, which supports people across West Somerset who struggle to keep their homes warm.
The woodland project improves wildlife habitat while producing logs that are delivered by volunteers to people in need.
