FLAPJACKERY, Minehead’s newest shop, which specialises in selling hand-made artisan, gluten-free flapjacks and sweet treats, has nominated the town’s RNLI as the recipient of its charitable fundraising efforts.

Owners Sally Jenkin and Carol Mynott chose to help Minehead RNLI‘s appeal to raise £250,000 towards the renovation costs needed to transform the town’s lifeboat station so that two boats can be housed inside, and to improve the facilities.

They said: “The RNLI is a crucial part of the local community all year round helping to keep people safe, and with Minehead such a popular holiday destination too, with many people coming to enjoy time in the water, we’re delighted to be able to do just a little bit to help support the lifeboat crews with their fundraising.”

The shop was officially opened on Thursday by Tony James, a Free Press journalist and author, and Richard Newton, chairman of Minehead RNLI.
