THE sun shone on non-stop action when the annual Fitzhead Fete and Flower Show enjoyed a bumper day that raised £4,700 for St James Church and the village’s medieval Tithe Barn.
Children ran races, the specially made ducking stool and stalls drew in the crowds, and teas, cakes, ciders and the barbecue went down a treat.
Almost 500 people came from far and wide to enjoy the traditional event which included brass band music from Wiveliscombe Town Band and a host of attractions, not least of which was the flower show.
The festivities continued the next day with a duck race. Hundreds of yellow plastic ducks were raced at the fun, three-heat event, held at Holcombe Farm, where teas were also served on the lawn.
