DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue (DSFR) mobilised crews from Minehead and Dulverton to Cutcombe on Saturday afternoon (September 6) when a tractor caught alight.

But, despite the firefighters’ efforts the tractor was completely destroyed in the blaze, which started at about 2.40 pm.

They used two sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, and beaters as they battled the flames.

A DSFR spokesperson said: “The cause is believed to be accidental.”

Dulverton Fire Brigade is currently recruiting on-call firefighters and wants to hear from anybody who is aged 18 years or older, is physically fit, and can respond to the station within five minutes from home or work.

Anybody interested can drop in to a Tuesday evening training session at 7 pm.
