West Somerset Railway’s Christmas bookings are exceeding all expectation, the WSR reported this week.

In just a month after launching the railway’s festive programme – the traditional Santa Express from Bishops Lydeard to Williton and the new Winterlights service between Bishops Lydeard and Crowcombe – 5,734 tickets have been sold, bringing in over £114,000.

A WSR spokesman said: “The Santa Express bookings so far are encouraging, with 1,979 tickets sold, with a value of £39,710 and Winterlights has done spectacularly well with 3,755 tickets sold for £74,682 – much needed income and well ahead of expectations.”
