SIR — Just to reassure readers of D Stevens' letter (Free Press July 8) that the signs from last year's Minehead Summer Festival are safely stored and will be re-used this year.
The additional signage costs relate to new signs as this year's festival is larger and will require additional road closure and diversions.
Stalls are being administered by the Minehead Events Group, which will retain the stallholders' fees to offset other costs.
Street cleaning will be a mix of paid and unpaid staff, with the maximum expenditure for this estimated to be £2,000.
In relation to the comment made about councillor expenses on the day, we do not anticipate any mileage claims. Some councillors have volunteered to help marshal the event. Volunteer marshals are not paid.
