THERE were plenty of feasts and no famine when food lovers indulged their passion and celebrated a decade of an event that showcases the best of local produce.

The Exmoor Food Festival tempted the taste buds of visitors with a host of mouth-watering attractions.

And this year's event, which ran for eight days and ended with a food fair in Porlock last Sunday, took foodies on a journey around the world.

People were able to enjoy delights ranging from Victorian cream teas to tapas with Valencian cocktails and American brunch.

But homage was also paid to Somerset's core products with plenty of cheese, chutney and cider on offer, as well as traditional game and fish.

Festival-goers were spoilt for choice with everything from tasting platters to full-blown dinners and chocolate dining to beefy breakfasts on the menu at a variety of pubs, restaurants and other outlets across Exmoor.

And there was also the chance to see just how some of the top quality produce started life with a special open day at the West Somerset Community College Farm.

The farm's pigs and Red Devon cattle lapped up the attention as visitors were able to test out their grooming skills.

Stalls from the West Somerset Farmers Market, a hog roast and refreshments from the college's own Combe Restaurant ensured no-one went hungry, while Williton Young Farmers Club members ran games and activities to pull in the crowds.

Bees, a greenhouse full of seasonal plants from a local garden centre and the chance to take a look at the college's exotic animal collection made the day such a success that it is now expected to become an annual event in its own right.
