WEST Somerset shoppers rallied behind the NFU on Tuesday when the new British Farm Standard logo was launched.
The red and blue tractor logo is the new mark to identify food that is not just British but also produced to high standards in terms of food safety, animal welfare and care for the environment.
Although it is not possible to bring in a scheme that deliberately excludes other European countries, many supermarkets have made it clear they will only use the logo on British products.
The British Farm Standard, designed at least in part to help farmers through the agricultural crisis, was given its local launch outside Tesco's supermarket Minehead on Tuesday.
