THREE brothers who died within six months of each other were remembered in a special family walk which raised nearly £3,000 towards a new scanner at Musgrove Park Hospital.

A cheque for £2,910 was handed over to the appeal recently after 20 family members walked 19 miles, taking in each of the areas where the brothers had lived.

The Power brothers included Richard, of Cotford St Luke, who died at 68, Jack, of Watchet, who was 70, and Norman, of Bishops Lydeard, 82.

All three brothers died between September last year and February this year, two of them from cardiac problems and the third from post-operative complications.

Thelma White, one of their sisters, suggested a sponsored walk in their memory and the family embraced the idea wholeheartedly.

Three generations of 20 walkers aged 20 to 79 took part, while numerous other family members supported them with refreshments and help.

Among the extended group were the three brothers’ widows, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, nephews and nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The walk set off from Cotford St Luke, went to Bishop’ Lydeard and across the Quantocks into Watchet.
